REDUCING HARM V. WASTED TAX DOLLARS BY “DENIAL” POLITICIANS
Each passing day the Trump Administration (elect) makes it
clearer that their energy policies, strongly supported by the Republican Party,
will contribute to warming and rising seas, etc., rather than slowing warming and
all its harmful impacts.
Also, it appears certain that there will be proposed
Republican “infrastructure investment” legislation. However, since the
Republican Party rejects the settled science on global warming, the Republican
infrastructure legislation will be the
traditional “boondoggle” legislation: fixing unsafe bridges, repairing roads
etc.
Such
legislation would throw away our tax dollars on construction investments (and other investments) that are out of date or will shortly be out of date in a world that is
continuously warming and climate is, therefore, continuously changing. Accordingly,
the Democratic Senatorial minority must use the filibuster to prevent the
waste of our tax dollars and make clear in Democratic legislative proposals
that reducing harm to the American people is the first test of new
infrastructure legislation.
By WORKING WITH OTHER COMMUNITIES AT THE LOCAL LEVEL, we will help plan changes to best PROTECT our communities AND WE WILL
ENCOURAGE & SUPPORT DEMOCRATIC PARTY:
- RESISTANCE TO WORTHLESS INFRASTRUCTURE LEGISLATION
- EDUCATING THE PUBLIC ON TRULY WORTHWHILE INFRASTRUCTURE CHANGES IN A WARMING WORLD
A first step is to contact city government and ask them about plans for infrastructure that help protect against and withstand severe weather events.
