NEW INFRASTRUCTURE IN A WARMING WORLD

REDUCING HARM V. WASTED TAX DOLLARS BY “DENIAL” POLITICIANS

Each passing day the Trump Administration (elect) makes it clearer that their energy policies, strongly supported by the Republican Party, will contribute to warming and rising seas, etc., rather than slowing warming and all its harmful impacts. 

Also, it appears certain that there will be proposed Republican  “infrastructure investment” legislation. However, since the Republican Party rejects the settled science on global warming, the Republican infrastructure legislation will  be the traditional “boondoggle” legislation: fixing unsafe bridges, repairing roads etc.

Such legislation would throw away our tax dollars on construction investments (and other investments) that are out of date or will shortly be out of date in a world that is continuously warming and climate is, therefore, continuously changing. Accordingly, the Democratic Senatorial minority must use the filibuster to prevent the waste of our tax dollars and make clear in Democratic legislative proposals that reducing harm to the American people is the first test of new infrastructure legislation.

By WORKING WITH OTHER COMMUNITIES AT THE LOCAL LEVEL, we will help plan changes to best PROTECT our communities AND WE WILL ENCOURAGE & SUPPORT DEMOCRATIC PARTY:

1. RESISTANCE TO WORTHLESS INFRASTRUCTURE LEGISLATION 
2. EDUCATING THE PUBLIC ON TRULY WORTHWHILE INFRASTRUCTURE CHANGES IN A WARMING WORLD

A first step is to contact city government and ask them about plans for infrastructure that help protect against and withstand severe weather events.

PLANNING NEW INFRASTRUCTURE in an unstable world of GLOBAL WARMING!

Global warming is publicly treated by many GOP leaders as a hoax or as only a minor issue of concern!

The new Republican Administration has made it clear that it:

1. will not pursue policies to slow global warming
2. will seek to REVERSE EXISTING POLICIES that would reduce warming gas emissions
3. will not PURSUE NEW INFRASTRUCTURE POLICIES to protect us from the ravages of continued warming and increasingly harmful climatic changes

Even though it is obvious to coastal communities around the world that sea level IS rising and threatening lives and the existence of entire communities - there will be MINIMAL ad-hoc support from the Republican administration to help those communities prepare for the warming future. Localities are on their own as far as planning for infrastructural changes required in a "warming" world.

Therefore, WORKING WITH OTHER COMMUNITIES at the grass-roots level, we will help plan infrastructural changes to best protect our lives and our quality of life in a "warming" world.
