Be an ACTIVIST: HELP GET THE (BLUE) VOTE OUT!

We've been underestimating sea level rise this whole time, say scientists from Science Alert (Nov. 2, 2016)

Our chance at slowing global warming so that humanity
can adapt the warming world with the least death and destruction is NOW.

The primary importance of the 2016 election is for the U.S. to be able to pass appropriate, effective warming gas emissions reductions as rapidly as possible. The annual average CO2 level is now above 400ppm and increasing – a level not seen since approximately 3 million years ago when sea level was about 80 feet higher.

In the remaining days before the election, we can still volunteer to help in the effort to get out the BLUE vote:
  1. Go to campaign websites OR websites like Rock the Vote. Rock the Vote shows how you can help!
  2. You can volunteer to help nonpartisan groups to protect voting rights – groups like the Election Protection Coalition
  3. Make your plan to vote and talk to friends and family to encourage them to do likewisepost your plans and ask others to respond
  4. Text or call relatives in swing states and districts and do the same
  5. Talk across the aisle, difficult as it is this election.

The Trump candidacy and those still endorsing Trump:
  • deny the need to address global warming
  • stand for an America which values the kinds of discrimination and nativism etc. that existed before our civil war
  • share an attraction to a proto-fascist leader/society

A Democratic Presidential and Senatorial victory are ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL –
JUST AS IS A HOUSE THAT WILL FINALLY
PASS THE LAST HOPE GLOBAL WARMING LEGISLATION.

These people are going to vote.

Are YOU?

This is the ELECTION OF and FOR YOUR LIFE!

VOTE BLUE UP AND DOWN THE BALLOT!

The Supreme Court - after the 2016 election

Actively working for and voting for a Democratic President & Senate, in particular, is critically important!
Beyond the more recent partisan decisions of the Supreme Court like the 2010 Citizens United decision and the 2013 decision weakening the 1965 Voting Rights Act, the post 2016 Supreme Court will have the opportunity to influence America’s future in many different ways.

US Supreme Court - 2015
Therefore, the new President and majority in the Senate will have historic influence. While a replacement for Justice Scalia will be the first step in changing the reactionary direction of the Court, it is important to note there are likely to be additional changes in the Court in the near future since Justice Ginsburg is 83, Justice Kennedy is 80 and Justice Breyer is 78 and, thus, at least one additional appointment is virtually certain.

Again, actively working for and voting for a Democratic President & Senate, in particular, is all the more important!

These "right wing" Justices gutted the 1965 Voting Rights Act.
Be aware that a Democratic President, Senate majority and  House majority are essential to pass absolutely crucial legislation to slow global warming emissions as well as a wide range of legislation that benefits the general public, the 95%+, rather than only the very wealthy.

VOTE FOR A DEMOCRATIC POTUS
& A DEMOCRATIC CONGRESSIONAL MAJORITY!

We must do our work! We must not become complacent!

All Democrats MUST UNITE to DEFEAT TRUMP!

All Republicans, Independents, Liberals, etc., who see that TRUMP IS DANGEROUS to the USA and to the WORLD must VOTE BLUE to DEFEAT TRUMP!

Not voting or writing in a candidate WILL ELECT TRUMP as the next POTUS! THIS CANNOT HAPPEN!

VOTE FOR A DEMOCRATIC POTUS
& A DEMOCRATIC CONGRESSIONAL MAJORITY!

VOTE BLUE - The Republican Party Stands for Inequality

VOTE BLUE!

Democratic POTUS & Congressional Majority!

Senator Sanders has forced a greater public discussion of the “exceptional” inequality in America. Whether we measure inequality by...
  • the extraordinary concentration of wealth in the hands of so few
  • an extremely regressive tax structure (including sates taxes etc.)
  • the extreme (for rich nations) percentages of persons living in poverty
  •  the exorbitantly high cost of health care and higher education
...inequality in America is a result of the policies aggressively and openly promoted by the contemporary Republican Party.

In particular, the public position of the Republican House majority is to:
  • radically reduce corporate income tax rates (from 35% to 20%)
  • radically reduce individual income tax rates for the wealthy (from 39.6% to 33%)
  • reduce individual income tax rates for capital (investment) profits and dividend income at less than 50% of the rate for wage income
The Republican Party even argues for the elimination of the estate tax. All of these changes overwhelmingly, disproportionately benefit the extremely wealthy.

At the same time, the result of Republican tax policy changes, starting with President Reagan, has been to:
  • increase the overall tax burden on the, at least, 95% of Americans with lower incomes
  • squeeze/reduce Federal spending that would reduce poverty, reduce health care (especially drug) spending, reduce the cost of higher education
  • and, most notably, to reduce the effectiveness of corporate regulation – INCREASING NUMEROUS RISKS TO THE AMERICAN PUBLIC.

It is CRITICAL that we VOTE & VOTE BLUE!

A VOTE FOR REPUBLICANS IN 2016 is a VOTE for INCREASED INEQUALITY in America - in ALL ITS FORMS!
UNITE & Vote BLUE!

What kind of future does humanity face?

Runaway Global Warming, Politics, & Our Future

Since the Republican Party leadership and the U. S. media, as well, give little importance to the increasing of global warming and actually denies/ignores its existence, it is all the more important to reach any and all who will listen to the scientific community about the urgency of avoiding runaway global warming.

Runaway global warming means that whatever humanity does:

  1. It will no longer be able to slow the pace of warming
  2. The world will not have time to adapt with less harm to humanity from the many changes brought by increased warming
And those changes include
Drought stricken soy bean field.
– increased sea level rise, more frequent intense storms & flooding, greater droughts, more wildfires, increased food crop loss, fresh water loss, more widely spread disease carriers, increased human migration, increased conflicts, etc.

Bleached coral due to global warming - Great Barrier Reef
The science suggests that we are on the verge of runaway global warming. At the same time, the on-going research continues to yield findings that the earlier assumptions about the seriousness of the impacts of warming and about the contribution of positive feedback loops (increasing warming) were serious underestimates of the speed of change due to global warming.

So, the 2016 election is our hope that we can begin to implement policies that will slow global warming and permit adaption with less harm to humanity.

In other words, whether the 2016 election will yield a Democratic Presidency and Congress that can make global warming slowing policies is the answer to WHAT KIND OF FUTURE HUMANITY FACES.

I ask that you please share this post with the hope that as it is shared, you can encourage others to join this fight for our very lives.

A fight against climate denial and inaction to slow global warming.

A fight on all levels of government: Federal, State, and local! All voices and votes are essential for a Democratic win! Thank you!

Republican Majority in the U.S. Supreme Court: A damaging legacy!

We will need EVERY AMERICAN concerned about the general well-being of Americans TO BE POLITICALLY ACTIVE in the PRESIDENTIAL, SENATE, AND HOUSE ELECTIONS!

The most damaging legacy of the 2010 Citizens United decision of the Republican majority Supreme Court has been to continue to promote inaction on global warming leading the world to the brink of global warming catastrophe.

Of course, the Republican majority Court decided that Bush won and therefore it made possible the many disastrous policies of the Bush Admin.

We need
  • a Democratic President
  • a Democratic majority in the Senate
  • and enough fair minded Republicans in the Senate
...for the appointment of a Supreme Court Justice who will bring back greater democracy to American government.

First and foremost, a Supreme Court concerned about the general well-being of the American people and the world would:
  • reverse Citizens United and
  • sensibly limit the influence of the very wealthy ...
...who are overwhelmingly interested in protecting their wealth/power at whatever terrible cost to the other 99.99%+ of Americans - and the future of the entire world

WE WILL NEED EVERY CONCERNED AMERICAN TO BE POLITICALLY ACTIVE IN THE PRESIDENTIAL, SENATE, AND HOUSE ELECTIONS!
