New Supreme Court Majority Positive Possibilities

FIRST: Beyond reversing the Citizens United decision that gave the very wealthy even more power to control our nation, a new majority could reverse the Supreme Court’s recent decision that undermined the 1965 Voting Rights Act. 

This decision essentially stripped away voter participation protections in Republican dominated states.

SECOND: A new Court majority could revisit the ‘anyone can carry any gun, anytime, anywhere’ interpretation of the 2^nd Amendment that is defended by the NRA and its corporate backers.

America is exceptional indeed 

among advanced industrial nations.  

• We have a vastly higher homicide rate and a vastly higher number of privately owned guns per citizen.  
• Our extraordinarily weak gun ownership requirements are the weakest among our peer nations.  
• These high rates of gun ownership primarily benefit the gun industry.  

BUT there is a mountain of scientific evidence that confirms that:

1. They do NOT deter crime!
2. THEY MAKE IT EASIER FOR MORE AND MORE PEOPLE TO KILL MORE AND MAIM MORE AND MORE INNOCENT AMERICANS!
